One use of GPS-enabled phones is support for navigation and maps. There are many services that allow individuals to download a map of a given location to a GPS-enabled phone. But the information may not match the user’s current activity and needs. With PhotoMap, individuals can grab a map shown on a public display – such as one in a city center or at a train station – by taking a photograph of it, and using it as a digital map on the mobile phone (the application is optimised for use with the Nokia N95).
